Top 10 Tuesday – The Ten Most Recent Additions to My Bookshelf

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This list is put together with the most recent books I’ve bought and Christmas presents as I’m trying to cut down on the number of books I’m buying this year.

  1. The Crawling Terror (Doctor Who) – Mike Tucker
    Bought 11/1
recent bookcase - crawling terrorJust as I was leaving my new local library after signing up I had a flick through their ex-library book sale and picked up this one for 50p. I’m a big Doctor Who fan and have a literal crate of books but I haven’t read any for a while and don’t have any past 11. It’s not going to change my world but I’ll have fun reading it, even though it’s a Clara story.

  2. One of us is next – Karen McManus
anticipated - one of us is nextBought 9/1
The sequel to ‘One of Us Is Lying’, my explanation for getting this is in my first Top 10 – anticipated reads of early 2020

  3. 1001 films to watch before you die
    1001Bought – 2/1
This one feel pretty self-explanatory due to my new project…

  4. The Girl who could move sh*t with her mind – Jackson Ford
recent bookcase - girl who could move shit with her mindBought 2/1
This is one I picked up just because it look awesome. I should work on my impulse control but at least it was just one bonus(?) book when I went in to go and get ‘1001 films’

  5. Name of the wind – Patrick Rothfuss
recent bookcase - name of the windReceived 24/12
This was a Christmas present and one of my college’s favourite books which is why she bought me a copy. It’s one I’ve been meaning to get for ages so I’m looking forward to actually starting it this year.

  6. Storm Front – Jim Dresdenrecent bookcase - storm front
    Received 24/12
Christmas Present from the UnSpoiled BookSwap, every year the UnSpoiled (podcast) community does a book swap. There’s an unspoiled Dresden Files so I can start listening and reading along, I can’t wait to discover this series alongside one of my favourite podcast duo.

  7. Fool Moon – Jim Dresden
recent bookcase - fool moonReceived 24/12
The second book in the Dresden Files, also from my BookSwap. I’m already working out how I’m going to pace myself/not pace myself with the podcasts, I’m aiming to do 2-3 podcasts a week which is about 4/6 chapters. Unless I decide to binge it all because I have no self control, however because I’m listening along to the podcast it will be forcing me to slow down

  8. Foul is Fair – Hannah Capin
foul is fairRecieved ARC – 21/12
My sister brought an ARC back from work and I’m looking forward to reading it
    #MeToo and murder and revenge!ehe

  9. The Hunting Party
recent bookcase - hunting partyReceived 21/12
Waterstones book of the month for December, it just looks amazing. I don’t know what else to write about why I have it.  My sister came back with plenty of books that evening for us and as presents for all of the family (including 6 copies of The Horse, The Mole, The Fox, and The Boy)

  10. Serapheniarecent bookcase - seraphina
    Received 18/12
This was a Christmas present from one of my best friends. Every Christmas we give each other our best read of the past year, this year I gave her ‘The Binding’ and I received this one.

It’s a pretty decent list of books and more varied than it would otherwise be due to sharing a bookcase with my sister and Christmas presents.
Plus I’m not letting myself go on a book buying binge when I have a bad day.
